Multipurpose Center- Anthony Veteran Park
"An Explosion of Color"
an exhibit of acrylic paintings by
It is my honor to exhibit at the Anthony F. Veteran Park- Multipurpose Community Center and share my artistic journey with all of you. I am a 20+ year Greenburgh resident, living in Hartsdale, NY and working full-time in Manhattan. I have only recently, discovered my passion for painting. I have always loved and enjoyed art, but never dreamed I could make my own "art."
I was over 50 when my friends chose a "paint and sip" event for an evening activity. Since I don’t sip, I carefully followed the instructions and BOOM, to my amazement, a blank white canvas "Exploded with Color." I painted a tree with fall colored leaves. A spark was lit, and I haven’t stopped painting since. I had never, until this moment, considered myself artistic.
I knew that with some instruction, I could create! I also knew I had a lot to learn. How to do this with a full-time career & life took only a little research. I found terrific tutors online, willing to share their wisdom, skills, and knowledge. A new way to learn - online as my time permitted, and at my own pace - from basic lessons to the most advanced.
I first found Jane Font, (Painting with Jane); then Cinnamon Cooney (The Art Sherpa) and most recently my painting teacher & coach, Acrylic Master Artist Ginger Cook. I am currently a student of The Ginger Cook Academy. I began painting from lessons, whenever I could, and have started taking the skills I learn into painting originals and commissions. My style and interest have begun to emerge. I love painting nature, landscapes, flowers and birds . . . all in an "Explosion of Colors," the brighter, the better!
I find this new passion relaxing, meditative and rewarding. When the final painting starts to appear from that blank canvas, it still feels like magic. I hope you enjoy this exhibit as much as I enjoyed painting. These are some of the products of my journey so far. Most of the pieces in this exhibit are available for purchase. Prices range from $20 to $290 depending on size and painting surface.
